Dear Students and Parents,
I am so excited to be your child's 5th grade social studies teacher this year. I have been teaching for 19 years, most of which has been in 5th grade I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism and in Elementary Education. My Master’s Degree is also in Elementary Education with an emphasis in reading.
I couldn't be more excited to be concentrating solely on history this year as I am a huge American history buff. I have been a part of a history grant through DVUSD and have been very lucky to take a few historical trips during our summer breaks. This last summer our theme was the Cold War and we visited both the Nixon Library and the Reagan Library in California. The previous year our theme was the Civil War and we travelled to Washington DC, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and Richmond, Virginia. Before that we studied the Revolutionary War in Boston. These trips have taught me so much and have given me many wonderful ideas and teaching tools to bring back to my classroom, as well as great personal experiences I can share with the students
Your teacher,
Ms. Cardella
